FIRST CUT OF HALLOWEEN - By Vince
Halloween starts off with “Monster Mash” not the Kiss song in the final cut. The opening credits are done differently with a freeze segment before a young Myers kills the bully.
35 minutes into the film there is more added to the scene outside with young Myers and Loomis. Where the young Myers continues to say “I need to get out of here” and Loomis tells him “I’m afraid that won’t be happing for a while” Myers last word is “I have nothing else to say.” Then after that scene
37 minutes into the film. Loomis and Myers’s mother leave and a nurse watches Myers. In the final cut the Nurse sits down picks up a picture of young Myers and his baby sister. She looks at it and says “Cute baby” then places it down. Myers then stabs her with a fork as she bleeds to death. In the first cut the nurse picks up the picture and says “Cute baby. She couldn’t be related to you.” Then she places it back down on the table with a smug look on her face. Myers gets up and there is a longer shot of him with the fork in his hand and a more graphic shoot of the killing.
15 years later shows on the screen.
41 minutes into it there are clips of the news cast that is not shown in the final cut. A news anchor talks about a group of people who are protesting the fact that Michael could be released. Sid Haig who plays a prison guard in the final cut plays a political figure in the cut version.
42 minutes into it there is a clip that is overlaid with music of Haig yelling at Myers that he won’t ever be let out.
44 minutes into it two guards walk down the hall and grab a female patient from the room and bring her into Myers’s room. While the two men RAPE this women Myers just sits in his chair and creates more masks for himself. It’s not until one of the men touches his mask where the “rage” is unleashed. Myers throws the one man against the wall in his room then stalks the other man who trips while running out of the room.
48 minuets into it. Myers takes the keys from the second guard and just WALKS OUT OF SMITH’S GROVE. Next shoot is off the truck stop with Joe Grizzly getting out of his truck. In the final cut Rush is being played over the establishing shoot of the truck stop. This time around it fades in after the Halloween theme was being played. At
60 minuets into it there is a scene not seen in the final cut. Where Sam Loomis talks about how his lecture went on his book. He then gets a phone call from the director of Smith Grove about how he got out.
At 63 minuets into it there are longer shoots of Myers looking at all three girls. What was not shown in the final cut is shoots of Myers following Laurie to her new home with her new family. Longer shoots of Myers watching the family is shown. Right after that we cut to Loomis talking to Doctor K and Morgan Walker. They show footage of Myers just walking out of smith grove. They talk about why this should of never happened. Loomis has a line in this scene where he says. “It was simple, just keep the monkey in the cage until the monkey dies of old age.”
After that it’s cuts to Myers at the cemetery where he is standing over a dead body with the arms removed from it. We don’t see the killing but we do see Myers take the tomb stone of Judith Myers.
After that cut it’s a different cut from where Myers looks onto Laurie talking to her new family the Strodes. In the final cut Mason strode was talking to his wife Cynthia. In the final cut Cynthia tells Morgan she is going to build a fire. Mason stays outside smoking and out of no where Myers kills Mason then goes inside and stalks Cynthia and kills her. In the first cut Mason is smoking outside and Cynthia just goes into the house. We see Myers walking up to Mason and Mason spots him and gets shocked and replies with “Man you scared me.” Michael then kills Mason Strode, takes the body into the house throws it down and looks at a shocked Cynthia Strode then it just cuts to a bloody picture of Laurie.
72 minutes into a scene not shown in the final cut is shown. Loomis meets Bracket for the first time at the cemetery and Loomis explains what is going on.
At 75 minutes Bob is shown getting killed in a different way from the final cut. Bob goes into the van to get a beer for Lynda. Bob is pulled into the van and stabbed a number of times into the chest by Myers.
In the final shoots of the film it is totally different. Myers takes Laurie out of the police car from Loomis and Loomis follows Myers with Laurie. The police show up Bracket is there as well. Loomis tells the police “I can handle this” Loomis talks sense into Michael. Myers drops the knife after Laurie says while crying “Michael let me go, please” Myers lets her go, Loomis says “You did the right thing.” Myers very slowly follows the two and by the second step he takes the cops open fire, over twenty shoots are fired into Myers. They shoot around Loomis and Laure some how, but this whole movie sucked dick so why should it make sense at this point.
Music over plays and a shoot of Myers dead is shown and overlaid is a clip from a young Myers and Loomis talking when they first had their time together at Smith Grove. A very different ending from the final cut. Where in the final cut after Myers takes Laurie from the car Loomis follows him and tells him, “I failed you. It’s me you want.” Myers then crushes his skull and then a big chase scene at the end where Laure and Myers end up back outside where Laure grabs the gun Loomis bought from a gun shop in the final cut. She takes the gun and the first two chambers of the gun are empty but the last shot she takes goes off and she screams and the movie ends.
Overall both cuts are very different and very awful to say the least. What I read and told was that the powers that be saw this cut that was finished in May wasn’t up to the standards and wanted Zombie to go back and add more kills. Seven more kills were added. We saw the four security guards get killed, then a nurse who’s neck was cut. Then Danny Trejo who made it in the first cut didn’t in the final cut where Myers smashed a TV onto his head. One last thing.
